Offshore Wind Buoy Deployment Logistics · Pacific Coast
Advance logistics for deploying offshore wind measurement buoys at multiple Pacific coast locations, supporting the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM).
The project
Before offshore wind farms can be planned, the wind has to be measured where the turbines would go. Measurement buoys were to be deployed to help the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) quantify the deepwater Pacific offshore wind call areas.
Our role
- Identified possible sites and deployment methods at multiple locations along the Pacific coast
- Lined up local labor at each location
- Arranged vessel hauling, dock support and haul-out services
Why it matters
Deploying heavy instruments from remote ports takes local knowledge: which docks can take the load, which vessels can tow it, and who can do the work. Planning that ahead keeps deployment windows from being missed.
